Zedule vs Jane App | Honest comparison
Jane App is the leading clinical management platform for physiotherapy, chiropractic, mental health, and similar healthcare practices. They handle SOAP notes, insurance billing, intake forms, telehealth, and HIPAA compliance — alongside booking. Zedule handles booking only. The choice is straightforward: if you need clinical features, Jane App; if you just need scheduling, Zedule at 1/30th the cost.

Jane App is one of the most-loved healthcare SaaS products. They build for physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, mental health, and similar practices, and they do clinical management deeply — bookings, charting, billing, telehealth, all in one.
Zedule does booking. We don’t try to be Jane App. This page is for clinics deciding whether they need the full clinical platform or just the booking layer.

Where Jane App wins
- HIPAA compliance. They sign BAAs, they have the certifications, they’ve designed the system for the regulatory requirements. If your practice handles PHI, this isn’t optional.
- Clinical charting. SOAP notes, treatment plans, file attachments. Built into the workflow alongside booking.
- Intake forms. Structured fields, conditional logic, patient-portal access for ongoing intake.
- Insurance billing. Direct billing, claim filing, EOB tracking. Critical for insurance-based clinics.
- Telehealth video. Built-in HIPAA-compliant video. No separate Zoom subscription.
- Industry depth. Built specifically for the practices it serves; product decisions reflect real clinical workflow.
Where Zedule wins
- Pricing for non-clinical clinics. $100/year vs $468-1,188/staff/year. For cash-pay alternative-health practices that don’t need insurance billing or HIPAA-grade charting, the savings are real.
- Branded customer experience. Custom hex on the booking page; embed on your existing site so patients never leave your clinic’s domain.
- BYO messaging providers. Confirmations from your domain.
- Per-tenant data isolation. Cloudflare D1 per business.
- Faster setup. 30 minutes vs 1-2 days.
- Flat predictable pricing. No per-staff, no tier upgrades.
Which one to pick
Pick Jane App if:
- Your practice is regulated and requires a HIPAA BAA.
- You handle insurance billing and need it integrated.
- SOAP notes / clinical charting are core to your workflow.
- You need built-in telehealth video.
- You’re insurance-based or compliance-driven.
Pick Zedule if:
- You’re cash-pay or alternative health (chiropractic, acupuncture, dietetics, mental health coaching).
- You don’t have HIPAA requirements.
- You handle clinical records elsewhere or in a separate EHR.
- The booking layer is the bottleneck and Jane App’s pricing feels overkill.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Zedule HIPAA compliant?
- We don't claim HIPAA compliance and don't sign BAAs. Customer data is encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated per-tenant in Cloudflare D1, but the formal HIPAA program isn't in place. For US clinics that need a BAA, Jane App is the right call.
- Can I use Zedule for clinical record-keeping?
- No. Notes fields are free-text, not HIPAA-grade structured fields. SOAP notes, intake forms, treatment plans — all out of scope. If your business needs clinical records, run them on Jane App or a dedicated EHR alongside any booking tool.
- Why would a clinic use Zedule instead of Jane App?
- When clinical records aren't a regulatory requirement (cash-pay alternative health, mental health coaches, dietitians) or when you already run an EHR and just need a better booking layer. Zedule is $100/year; Jane App is $39-99/staff/month. For a 4-provider practice the difference is $1,800-4,700/year.
- Does Jane App handle insurance billing?
- Yes — Jane App is built for insurance-based clinical practices in the US and Canada. Direct billing, claim filing, EOB tracking. Zedule doesn't do any of this.
- Can I run Zedule + Jane App together?
- Some practices do — Zedule for the customer-facing booking page (better branding, embeddable, BYO messaging) and Jane App for clinical records. The double-entry on customer data is the friction; works for some, not for others.
