Booking software for multi-location businesses — one workspace or many?

Multi-location service businesses face a fork in the road: run all locations from one booking workspace, or treat each location as a separate workspace under one ownership account. Both work. They have different operational implications.

One workspace, multiple locations

You configure a single business with all staff from all locations as team members. Customers book through one URL.

Works well when:

  • Locations share customers (a salon chain where customers move between branches).
  • Centralized reporting matters.
  • Branding is identical across locations.
  • Staff occasionally cross-cover at different locations.

Doesn’t work when:

  • Locations have different brands (sub-brands or franchises).
  • Local managers need autonomous control over their location.
  • Customers should book a specific location, not “any” location.

Many workspaces, one account

Each location is its own Zedule workspace under your account. You switch between them from the top bar. Each has its own URL, branding, staff, customers.

Works well when:

  • Locations have distinct brands or sub-brands.
  • Each location runs autonomously.
  • Customers identify with a specific location.
  • Multi-region (different time zones, different languages).

Doesn’t work when:

  • Customers move between locations frequently.
  • You need consolidated reporting in real-time.
  • Staff move between locations.

What Zedule supports

Zedule supports both models, but the multi-workspace pattern is more mature. Each business is a separate tenant with its own database, its own URL, its own customer list, its own brand. You switch between them from the top bar.

The single-workspace-multi-location pattern works by treating each location as a “staff resource” that bookings go to. Slightly hacky; the V2 enterprise tier will have proper multi-location features.

Pricing for multi-location

Each Zedule workspace is $100/year. Five locations = $500/year. Still dramatically cheaper than vertical platforms charging $129+/month per location ($7,740/year for 5 locations on Mindbody Starter).

For multi-location chains needing centralized reporting and cross-location operations, get in touch via /enterprise — we have an enterprise tier with better pricing and multi-location features.
